HOW TO
Seat Position
The optimal position for both front and hip carry styles is the "M" position, or the "froggy" position; with baby seated in a deep squat with knees bent higher than their bottom. This ensures baby’s hips are well supported and encourages their spine to form a “C” shaped curve which is comfortable and safe for their carry and their growth and development.
To help achieve this deep-seated carry in your Nalakai Slings, ensure the bottom rail of the sling is up and under baby’s bottom and reaching from the back of both knees. It is also desirable to have some fabric from the bottom rail up and in-between both baby and your body; forming a nice deep pocket seat which your baby will ‘sit’ into naturally.

What makes Nalakai Slings different from others on the market?
Nalakai Slings are made with natural, super-lightweight linen and bamboo fabrics, designed with warmer climates in mind and to help eliminate overheating both the carrier and baby. Our slings are both stylish and functional, always providing a 100% safe and secure carry. The lightweight aluminum rings are also of the highest quality, safety tested and compliant with the latest baby carrier safety standards.
From what age can I wear my baby in a Sling?
We recommend using your Pura Sling from the moment baby arrives! Babywearing provides the most womb-like environment they could be in. Little ones love to be all cuddled in, heart-to-heart, so start carrying your new baby right away. However, please do consult your pediatrician if your baby is premature or weighs less than 8 pounds.
What is the maximum age or weight limit for a Nalakai Slings?
We recommend a weight range up to 35 lbs (approx 2yrs), this will ensure a comfortable carry for both you and baby.
Does one size really fit all?
Yes, that’s the beauty of an adjustable carrier. Our slings are about 7 feet long to ensure a comfortable fit for our beautiful plus size mommas. Petite wearers find that tucking any extra length left in the tail up and around the rings provides a softer support. Your Nalakai Slings will be a perfect fit no matter your size!
My baby doesn’t feel secure, am I doing it right?
Always ensure you create a nice deep seat for you little one. The bottom rail should be firm against the back of baby’s knees. Ensure your baby is in a squat or ‘M’ position with their bottom positioned lower than their bent knees. Please watch our video tutorial for more information.
Can I carry my baby in a forward-facing position or on my back?
No. We do not recommend a forward-facing carry or back carry when using the Nalakai Slings. Please only carry your baby as per the instructions included with your sling in the front carry or hip carry positions.
